International Ferrometals (IFM), South Africa (BOOT) The MRP for Fermet Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a toll treatment project for IFM, was commissioned in 2007. The plant reclaims FeCr from the historical dump at IFM, albeit only generated since January 2007, as well as the currently generated slag. The contract was based on a throughput of 20,000 t/yr, but the capacity of the plant is approximately 600,000 t/yr of FeCr slag, containing approximately 3 % of FeCr, and producing approximately 18,000 t/yr of FeCr. All of the recovered metal is returned to IFM IFM has announced an expansion to its smelter and Fermet intends to expand the throughput of its MRP to cope with the extra slag produced. |
